1901 cover and enclosure on printed sender address envelope and letterhead to Mrs. L. D. Baker, Hotel Tourraine, Boston, Massachusetts posted with QV 2½d Keyplate pmk'd Port Antonio DEC 18 01.
This letter from Joshua on Capt. Lorenzo Dow Baker letterhead to Mrs. L.D. Baker would infer that this is from a second son. The letter mentions dear old Bowden, having a vaccination which did not take, and children Edith and little Dow.

1890 opened to display cover showing HUDDART, PARKER & Cos.. LINE printed sender's flap to Huddart-Parker & Co, Melbourne, Australia with QV 4d brown pmk'd Malta "A25" duplex dated H/SP 11 90, b/stamped Brindisi (13-9) and Melbourne (OC 16).
Malta joined the UPU on JY 1 1875 but Australia did not become a member until OC 1 1891.

1883 printed sender's flap cover to Basil Hall Chamberlain, Tengin Dani, Tokyo, Japan with 2 copies GB QV 2½d blue Plate 23 pmk'd Malta "A25" duplex dated B/JA 25 83 showing arrival cancel on address panel, b/stamped at Brindisi, Siracusa, and Yokohama. Ex Michael Lewis.
This is the only recorded 5d rate cover to Japan (normal rate being 4d).

PSRE from COUVA with REGISTRATION NOT ACTIVATED, Trinidad postal history
1890 use of QV 2d PSRE with added QV 4d grey, pair QV 6d olive-black (SG.110,111) pmk'd COUVA B/NO 6 90 to Bishop Auckland, England arriving A/NO 20 90 being an extremely rare example of quadruple 4d postage but due failure to transit through Port Of Spain (circumstances of interruption not yet established) the 2d registration fee could not be employed resulting in there being no Head Office transit cds, no registration label affixed by Port of Spain, and no hooded REGISTERED LONDON transit cds being all the requirements of secure mail.
Mail left Port of Spain NO 6 1890, arrived Barbados NO 8 1890, arrived Plymouth NO 19 1890 as per RMSP homeward schedule attached.

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent postal history
1888 use of QV 1½d deep brown Post Card with commercial text headed "13/10./88." to George Callf & Co, Horsham, Sussex but not placed in the mails immediately as design cancelled by black ink manuscript "Kingstown 30/10 88." which may or may not be in the same ink as addressing, and may or may not have been added by the writer. Evidently carried by enclosure as without normal postal markings.

BERMUDA postal history
1898 cover to Mrs. Alexander Smith, "Durnford", St. Georges with pair QV ½d deep grey-green pmk'd BAILEY'S BAY B/JU 6 1898 with St. Georges C/JU 6 1898 backstamp.
Durnford House (36 Wellington Street, St. George) was built in 1795 by Mayor Andrew Durnford as his residence; he was the first mayor of St. George and came to Bermuda to look after the construction work of the forts in St. George's. It is said that a part of the fund allocated for forts were diverted to build this house, and it was called 'The Fifth Fort' by some of his enemies. Durnford did not live long enough to enjoy the grounds and views of the town and harbour as he died September 11th 1798 and was buried in the grounds.

1881 cover with five copies GB QV 1d Venetian red and seven copies GB QV 1d lilac (SG.166,170) pmk'd London S.W/32 duplex dated AU 2 81 to Mrs. Belfield, Chelston, Barbados being the penultimate 1/- rate prior switching to the 4d U.P.U. rate on SP 1 1881, backstamped BARBADOES AU 18 1881 dbl-arc arrival clear of largely missing flap. A spectacular exhibition cover for the short band of use 14 dots in each corner GB QV 1d lilac.
The 1d Venetian red stamps do not have the Orbs watermark error Cat.£27,000 apiece.

BARBADOS postal history
1854 cover to Clifton, Bristol rated 1/- with PAID AT BARBADOES in red with JU 27 1854 despatch dbl-arc on reverse coupled with PAID AT BARBADOES in black on local cover pmk'd open bootheel duplex FE 20 93, plus further impressions in black, one overstruck bold "5", the other dated C/MR 4 96. The black strikes used during shortages of adhesives, and all three showing chipped short right leg in "A" of BARBADOES etc, the two covers with faults.
